Manufacturing Day Activities Planned in Fort Wayne, Angola

September 27, 2017
Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne will host a manufacturing expo October 6 in observance of National Manufacturing Day.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Steel Dynamics, Inc. Keith E. Busse Technology Center on the north campus, 3701 Dean Drive.

Attendees will be able to learn about exciting careers, witness demonstrations by employers, and get advice from industry representatives about the skills and training needed for today’s manufacturing jobs.

A manufacturing expo is also planned in Steuben County. The Made in Steuben event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Enterprise Center in Angola.

The goal of the Steuben expo is to showcase local manufacturing products and educate young people about career pathways in manufacturing. More than 200 high school students are among those expected to attend.

Manufacturing is the largest employing industry in northeast Indiana with nearly 85,000 workers. Between projected job growth and positions left open by retirement, manufacturers in the region will need to fill up to 24,000 jobs in the next decade.
I cannot explain enough how much Northeast Indiana Works’ Skill-Link classes in industrial maintenance have helped me in my career. They have allowed me to steadily grow in my career and I have now moved into the supervisory ranks. I intend to keep working hard and moving forward with Key Fasteners Corp.
